Cheap electric guitars are not necessarily poor quality, in fact they are really quite good for a beginner. You could even choose a smaller size guitar if the normal size is a little too daunting. They are perfect for getting a feel for the instrument, allowing you more control on the neck while learning those chords. With lighter strings, you won’t be putting too much pressure on your fingers while playing.

A lot of companies offer deals on cheap electric guitars, consisting of an amplifier, a guitar case, and of course, the guitar itself. A lot of these can be bought for around 50 to 100 dollars or pounds, and are ideal for anyone serious about becoming the next rock star.

Standard cheap electric guitars will usually have three single coil pickups, and a five-way tone selection switch. You will also get a removable tremolo arm, and a full set of strings. A plectrum or two might be included in the pack, although a new one will not break the bank. Its a good idea to have a few plectrums with varying thicknesses, to see which you prefer. A plectrum can have an effect on the sound of a guitar.

Of course it’s not only quality standard guitars that you can purchase fairly cheaply, there is also an extensive range of cheap bass guitars available, offering a lower, heavier sound than a normal guitar as it consists of only four bass strings. These strings are much thicker than a standard guitar, and so harder to play a clean note, but the sound resonates a lot more.
